Patreon's platform fee is now a flat 10% for new creators — the old Lite/Pro/Premium tiers are gone

Patreon retired its tiered pricing for anyone starting out. Under the old model a creator chose a plan — Lite at 5%, Pro at 8% or Premium at 12% — and the platform fee followed the plan. Patreon's Help Center article "A standard platform fee for new creators" set a single flat rate instead: any creator page published after 4 August 2025 pays a 10% platform fee on earnings, with no lower entry tier to pick. Merchandise tools are an optional add-on that raises the platform cut to roughly 13%.

Existing creators were not moved. Patreon's own announcement to creators ("We're increasing our prices for new creators. Existing creators will not see any increase.") grandfathers pages published on or before 4 August 2025 at their old rate. The catch that trips people up: the legacy rate is tied to the page staying published. Unpublish and later republish, or spin up a new page, and that page falls under the flat 10%.

The platform fee is only part of the take. On top of it sit payment processing — 2.9% + $0.30 per pledge over $3, or 5% + $0.10 on pledges of $3 or less — plus a currency-conversion fee (around 2.5%) when a patron pays in another currency, and payout fees on the way to your bank. The one input most guides skip is the decisive one: when your page was first published. Before 5 August 2025 with the page continuously live, you keep the old tier; published after, or republished, you are on the flat 10%.
